Hakeem learns As-salamu ALaikum

This book first off is a rectangular board book, so it is perfect for toddlers and preschoolers. The pictures are extremely cute and vibrant enough to catch the attention of young children.⠀ ⠀ The book talks about the phrase “Asalamu Alaikum” and teaches what it means and how to respond. I loved that this book teaches such an important phrase to kids, and teaches them the importance of using the salaam as our greeting to other Muslims. ⠀ ⠀ I like how the book shows families saying Salaam to each other, as well as the little boy saying Salaam to the animals at the zoo. The Animal sounds made the book more fun for the kids to listen to (they laugh when I imitate the animals).⠀ ⠀ I also liked the theme of unity and love present in the book.⠀ ⠀ The repetition of the Salaam phrase and the response are perfect for helping kids memorize Islamic vocabulary and internalize its message.
