Jannah Jewels Book 1
Genre: Chapter Book⠀⠀
Ages: 8-12
Available: Amazon and @jannahjewels⠀⠀
⠀⠀
Islamic note: I found it perfectly clean. It has ahadith, 4 hijabi heroines, references to the sunnah, and Islamic history!⠀⠀
⠀⠀
The first thing that I really loved was the cover and quality of the book. The text was big and easy to read, the book was not too long for young ones, and the pictures within helped provide extra fun to the book.⠀⠀
⠀⠀
The story starts with a prologue and introduction to the four girls, and then immediately picks up into the adventure story.⠀⠀
⠀⠀
The four girls are thrust into a time travel tree where they go back in time to Africa and the civilization of Mali, where they meet Mansa Musa and learn all about the valuable manuscripts and rich historical importance of that time. I would have liked to see more on the historical importance of this time but I understand its an introduction for young ones .⠀⠀
⠀⠀
The girls face the bad guy Jaffar and have to beat him and find the missing manuscript before time runs out and they are stuck in the past forever.⠀⠀
⠀⠀
I loved how it was action packed, and each new page and new chapter had more and more adventures and movement. It was super exciting to read!⠀⠀
⠀⠀
I also loved all four girls, their different personalities, and their relatability to children!⠀⠀
⠀⠀
I loved how the main girl called on Allah for guidance whenever she needed help. I also loved how the words Bismillah AlRahman AlRaheem were so powerful.⠀⠀
⠀⠀
I loved the concept of this chapter book, but to be honest, I did feel like it could have used some professional editing. I actually think that this series could be transformed into an AMAZING graphic novel series for little Muslims, with a little extra story line development.⠀⠀
⠀⠀
I did still find it a lovely chapter book and definitely very unique! We need more books with proud Muslims going on adventures and being so relatable and fun! I also loved the historical aspect of it in that it teaches kids about the importance of Islamic civilizations. I would have loved to see more Historical Notes in the back for extra learning.⠀⠀
⠀⠀
I look forward to reading more books in this series and seeing the heroines grow!
