Leila, The Eid Fairy
Honestly, Leila, The Eid Fairy was such a cute book and my daughter absolutely loved it! ⠀ ⠀ First off, the illustrations pulled my daughter in. It looks like a fairy tale with a princess, and my daughter was so excited to see what the story was about. ⠀ ⠀ It starts like a fairy tale: “once upon a time...” and flows smoothly like a sweet princess story. The story is about a little girl Leila that is different and does not have wings like everyone else. When she cries about it, her mother tells her that God made everyone different, and we are all uniquely special in our own way. This really appealed to my daughter, and she was really interested to see what made Leila special.⠀ ⠀ When Leila realizes that her superpower is being a Eid fairy with a magical flying horse, and a magical wand that makes Eid gifts for all the good and kind kids in the world, she is so excited to be a special part of Eid.⠀ ⠀ I really enjoyed reading this book and the pictures and sparkles and glitter all came together to make it a fantastic story that will appeal to every little girly girl.⠀ ⠀ I did make sure to tell my daughter that it is a fiction story, and that it is not actually reality to have a Eid fairy, but it was still fun for her to listen to and imagine. I felt like this was inspired by a mix of the tooth fairy and Santa, especially with the idea that only “nice” kids get gifts. ⠀ I do like the fact that the story has a message to little girls that differences are not bad, and that what makes you different also makes you special. I also like that it was stressed that God makes us all different. It teaches a moral without being overly preachy.⠀ ⠀ I do wish there was a little more actual Eid references or Eidy qualities about the fairy, other than her wand letting out toys for all the “good kids”. ⠀ It is important to note that 100 percent of the proceeds of this book go to charity, and that you will be donating to a good cause, and getting a good book at the same time! ⠀ ⠀ Get yours from @leilatheeidfairy
