Princess series: Adela
I really like the idea behind these books, but I honestly feel like the delivery isn’t there. The idea to name the princesses after Allah’s name is great, but the definition through the story seemed not really exciting and fell a little flat.⠀ ⠀ My daughter really like the idea of a Muslim Princess, the illustrations are super cute, and the bookmarks that come with the book are really awesome: so in that area the books were great ( there are many different ones).⠀ ⠀ The story was about how the princess is just/adela but the way it plays out is in how she decides what to do with her circus tickets. Her cousin is in town and she had previously promised her friend to give her the ticket, but she doesn’t want to disappoint her guest. She decides to stick with her decision, and her dad gives up his own ticket for her cousin to go too. Then “everyone in the land” hears of her just character, which seemed a little overly inflated in my opinion, even for a princess story.⠀ ⠀ While fairy tales are known to be fantastical, I expect them to emotionally invest the reader as well, and I just didn’t feel that in this story.⠀ ⠀ I also was confused at the princess’s age. A lot of her actions were inconsistent.⠀ ⠀ price: 9.50 usd
