Ramadan Moon

Ramadan Moon by Na'ima B. Robert is a lyrical sweet story about Ramadan. It starts with explaining the anticipation that Muslims feel when waiting for the Crescent Moon to be seen in the sky signaling that Ramadan has arrived.⠀

The book describes the different activities and rituals that Muslims do in Ramadan and then describes that when the Crescent Moon shows again, Eid begins and different festivities occur.⠀

One of my favorite things about this book is that the Moon is displayed on almost every page (in foil-like color), showing how the moon in its different phases and describing them. Each phase is shown also on the cover page and the back page and is useful to show to your children and explain how the moon changes during the holy month of Ramadan. This book is perfect to be used along with a craft either cutting out the moon phases or using playdough to make them. Make sure to check out Lunar Learners moon phase activity, also perfect for this book!⠀ One of my favorite pages is the page where a lot of Quran verses are written as a background and a beautiful Masjid is illustrated, with the description talking about how Ramadan is the month in which the Holy Quran is recited.⠀

This book really describes Ramadan in a lovely way that makes the reader love the blessed month. With the flowing rhythm and serene pictures, it is a lovely book for children to listen to before bedtime.⠀
