Salam Alaikum

This is a songbook from @salaamreads based on the nasheed Salam Alaikum by Harris J. You can find this song on youtube, it is super catchy and beautiful for kids to listen to.(not for those who don’t listen to background music) ⠀ I love how this song/book explores the meaning of the phrase Assalamu Alaikum as spreading peace and defines it for kids. In Arabic, its literal meaning is “Peace be upon you”.⠀ ⠀ This phrase is used by Muslims all over the world numerous times a day, any time they greet each other! ⠀ A man asked the Prophet (pbuh): “What is the best thing in Islam?” He said, “Feeding others and giving the greeting of salaam to those whom you know and those whom you do not know.”

Giving salaam and spreading peace are good deeds that are similar to feeding the poor, signifying in this Hadith the importance of saying it to all around us.

I like how the main character says that he is not going to allow “putting out the sun” to dull his shine, he is still gonna shine brightly and spread peace and happiness to those around him. This is inspiring for kids to keep trying their best to do good, no matter what obstacles they face! ⠀ I also appreciate that its published by a traditional publisher! This book is easily read and easily understandable by kids of all backgrounds. ⠀ The pictures are very beautifully illustrated and contain the main character doing good deeds for those around him, and in this case, pictures really do speak a thousand words! ⠀ ⠀ Get yours from Amazon
